Tap Tip Tell is committed to lawful, minimal, and secure processing of personal information in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 4 of 2013.
Information we collect
- Service ratings, tags, and feedback submitted through the platform.
- Transaction metadata required to process tips via licensed PSP partners.
- Device identifier signals used to reduce duplicate or fraudulent submissions.
- Interaction context such as timestamp and approximate location context.
Device identifier use
- Device fingerprinting is used only for anti-fraud and anti-duplication controls.
- It is not used to profile you across unrelated websites or apps.
How information is used
- Process tip transactions and pass service feedback to participating businesses.
- Issue rewards where available and administered by participating businesses.
- Detect misuse and improve platform performance using anonymised insights.
- No direct marketing without explicit consent and no sale of personal data.
Retention
- Transaction/payment records: up to 5 years where legally required.
- Ratings and feedback records: up to 2 years from submission.
- Device identifier records: up to 12 months from last interaction.
Cross-border hosting
- Cloud providers may host data outside South Africa.
- Equivalent safeguards are applied to protect personal information under POPIA.
Your POPIA rights
- Access and correction of personal information.
- Deletion requests subject to mandatory legal retention duties.
- Objection to processing and complaints to the Information Regulator.
